Beechwood Market traces its history back to the city of Bridgeport Connecticut, to the year 1921, when Mr. Louis Theodos opened a small corner grocery store on Beechwood Avenue.  The store was originally about 20' by 20', but over the years Mr. Theodos periodically enlarged the store up to 4000 square feet.  When Mr. Theodos passed away in 1948, his son Vin Theodos assumed control of the store.

In 1959, a second Beechwood Market was opened in Huntington Connecticut.  This store was the first store to open in the Huntington Center shopping area.  The new store was the result of a discussion between Vin Theodos and O.W. Beard.  These two men believed that a bright future awaited the town, and they both wanted to be a part of it.
